the Fetal Medicine Foundation to measure the Nuchal Translucency in early
pregnancy. Sheryl is also accredited by the Fetal Medicine Foundation in First
Trimester Ultrasound. She is registered with the ARDMS in general ultrasound
with a specialty in OB/Gyn. Sheryl has worked for Pullman Family Medicine for 8
years.
Ultrasound is typically famous for its use in Obstetrics however it can be used
to find abdominal, pelvic, testicular, renal and other abnormalities.
In obstetric ultrasound we commonly order the Fetal Survey. This ultrasound is
done around 20 weeks (half-way through the pregnancy). The fetal survey is a
great opportunity to check the baby and its environment for any abnormalities.
Another ultrasound that is offered to new mom’s is the Nuchal Translucency for
Early Screen. This ultrasound is done between 11 week 0 days and 13 weeks 6 days
and is helpful in determining whether there are certain chromosomal
abnormalities. For more information on the Early Screen ask your doctor or go to
www.genecare.com.
